The unbounded parity operator PP defined on the domain of Schwartz functions S(R,C)L2(R,C)\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R}, \mathbb{C}) \subset L^2(\mathbb{R}, \mathbb{C}), which maps a function ψ(x)\psi(x) to ψ(x)\psi(-x), is symmetric. That is, for all Schwartz functions ϕ,ψS(R,C)\phi, \psi \in \mathcal{S}(\mathbb{R}, \mathbb{C}), the L2L^2 inner product satisfies ϕ,Pψ=Pϕ,ψ\langle \phi, P\psi \rangle = \langle P\phi, \psi \rangle.
